Subjunctive KoL: CrimboTown
|
Crimbo Town was a special zone which opened for Crimbo 2005. It first appeared on December 20, 2005 and lasted until January 1, 2006, disappearing on the 2nd. In 2006, it was replaced by the SaveUncleCrimbo quest and its associated areas. It is unknown whether it will return in future years.
Here are the locations in Crimbo Town, which was located in the Big Mountains.
- Uncle Crimbo's Mobile Home: Here, Uncle Crimbo can make toys with the parts found in the Factory. Uncle Crimbo started out remembering only two recipes, but each day as Crimbo went on, he remembered two more. By the seventh day, he was up to 14 recipes, his full complement. Here's the list of recipes:
- (day 6) yo-yo (1 string + 1 wheel): combat item (32-38 damage)
- (day 1) top (1 block + 1 wheel): combat item ("You spin the top in front of your opponent, making him very dizzy." Presumably this reduces your opponent's power.)
- (day 3) ball (1 stuffing + 1 felt): combat item ("You throw the ball off into the distance. Your opponent scampers off to retrieve it, and you make a quick getaway." You immediately escape from combat. You gain no XP or Meat.)
- (day 2) kite (1 string + 1 felt): combat item ("You hold the kite aloft and take off running towards your opponent. As you get near him, you start winding the string around him snowspeeder-style, and tangle it all up." Your opponent does not attack this turn.)
- (day 5) pet rock (1 eye + 1 block): familiar. As far as anyone can tell, the pet rock is completely useless. It's not even able to compete in the Arena.
- (day 4) stuffed doppelshifter (1 eye + 1 stuffing): combat item (acts as a different item when used. This appears like it can be any combat item; ones I've seen personally include: Cloaca-Cola, mariachi G-string, razor-sharp can lid, red pixel potion, sonar-in-a-biscuit, and star throwing star).
- (day 6) teddy bear (2 eyes + 4 stuffing + 2 felt): familiar (absorbs damage during combat, but apparently at the cost of its own experience points)
- (day 4) duck-on-a-string (1 string + 2 eyes + 2 blocks + 2 wheels): weapon (1-handed flail), 100 power, requires 35 Muscle, +5 melee damage, +5% item drops from monsters
- (day 7) toy soldier (2 eyes + 3 blocks): combat item (32-35 damage, reusable)
- Note: Unlike ordinary combat items, the toy soldier is not consumed when you use it. However, using it will consume a bottle of tequila in your inventory. If you don't have a bottle of tequila, the toy soldier won't do anything.
- (day 7) doll house (4 blocks + 3 felt): usable (yields 3-4 random tiny plastic figurines, including the Advent calendar ones)
- (day 5) toy train (2 strings + 3 blocks + 6 wheels): accessory, +10% meat from monsters (one only)
- (day 2) marionette (2 strings + 2 eyes + 2 blocks): off-hand item, requires 40 Mysticality, +3 Mysticality
- (day 3) sock monkey (2 eyes + 3 stuffing + 1 felt): off hand item, requires 40 Mysticality, +3 Moxie
- (day 1) rag doll (2 eyes + 3 stuffing + 2 felt): off-hand item, requires 40 Mysticality, +3 Muscle
There is also a 15th toy: zapping a yo-yo with a wand will yield a sleeping snowy owl, which is yet another familiar.
- The Crimbo Cafe: Here, you may purchse Crimbotails and Crimbo Entrees. Like Chez Snootee or the Micromicrobrewery, these drinks and foods are consumed instantly; you can't save them as items for later. Here's the menu:
- eggnogtini (50 Meat) (3-6 A, 5-7 Mus, 5-7 Mys, 5-7 Mox, +10 Sugar Rush effect, 3 D)
- candycaine (75 Meat) (6-10 A, 7-9 Mus, 7-9 Mys, 7-9 Mox, +10 Sugar Rush effect, 4 D)
- braincracker sweet (100 Meat) (10-15 A, 9-11 Mus, 9-11 Mys, 9-11 Mox, +10 Sugar Rush effect, 5 D)
- gumdrop chow mein (50 Meat) (3-6 A, 5-7 Mus, 5-7 Mys, 5-7 Mox, +10 Sugar Rush effect, 3 F)
- candy cane pizza (75 Meat) (6-11 A, 7-9 Mus, 7-9 Mys, 7-9 Mox, +10 Sugar Rush effect, 4 F)
- gingerbread stir-fry (100 Meat) (10-15 A, 10-11 Mus, 9-11 Mys, 9-11 Mox, +10 Sugar Rush effect, 5 F)
- Crimbo Town Toy Factory: Here, you can fight Uncle Crimbo's naughty elves who are on strike. The elves scale to your power, so Adventurers of all ages can enjoy a jolly time there. Note that the elves will always be slightly weaker than you, so you'll hit them more often than not, and they'll miss you more often than not. Here's the foes:
- striking Factory-Worker elf: var. HP, var. XP; felt, googly eye, length of string, stuffing, toy wheel, wooden block; +0 Meat
- striking Gift-Wrapper elf: var. HP, var. XP; felt, googly eye, length of string, stuffing, toy wheel, wooden block; +0 Meat
- striking Middle-Management elf: var. HP, var. XP; felt, googly eye, length of string, stuffing, toy wheel, wooden block; +0 Meat
- striking Pencil-Pusher elf: var. HP, var. XP; felt, googly eye, length of string, stuffing, toy wheel, wooden block; +0 Meat
- striking Stocking-Stuffer elf: var. HP, var. XP; felt, googly eye, length of string, stuffing, toy wheel, wooden block; +0 Meat
- ONCE ONLY: Rudolph the Red (Unionize the Elves sign)
The Unionize the Elves sign is a 1-handed club with a power of 50, requiring 10 Muscle. You do not need any special equipment to get it, just good luck (a ring of conflict probably helps too). If you equip the sign, then when you go to the factory, you will switch sides and face Uncle Crimbo's reindeer!
The reindeer, like the elves, scale, but they seem to be generally tougher than the elves (and generally tougher than you, too), so be prepared. The amount of meat also scales; it ranges from about 100 for lower-level characters up to about 300 for higher-level characters.
- Bashful, the Reindeer (var. HP, var. XP; +var. Meat)
- Doc, the Reindeer (var. HP, var. XP; +var. Meat)
- Dopey, the Reindeer (var. HP, var. XP; +var. Meat)
- Grumpy, the Reindeer (var. HP, var. XP; +var. Meat)
- Happy, the Reindeer (var. HP, var. XP; +var. Meat)
- Sleepy, the Reindeer (var. HP, var. XP; +var. Meat)
- Sneezy, the Reindeer (var. HP, var. XP; +var. Meat)
- Zeppo, the Reindeer (var. HP, var. XP; +var. Meat)
There are two trophies that can be unlocked by beating up on reindeer:
- Defeating 10 reindeer will unlock the "Friend of Elves" trophy.
- Defeating 100 reindeer will unlock the "The Reindeer Hunter" trophy.
