The Theme Song of 21st Century Romance

[Transportation + Communication = Love] I love this album I got by Figurine called "Transportation + Communication = Love". It's poppy electronic music, kind of a cross between early Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk, but happier, and with many male/female duets. The chorus of my favorite song goes, "My first UFO / Our first kiss / I never thought / It could be like this", and then the singers actually get abducted again, right in the middle of the song!

The reason I wrote this blog entry, though, is to point out the chorus to the song "An Electronic Address", which I think of as a sort of theme song to 21st century romance. Here's a clip of the chorus. [676 KB MP3, 0'31"] It goes:

I turn my computer on
I see that there's no mail
I turn my computer off
Is this love for real?
I turn my computer on
I check three times a day
I turn my computer off
Contact me right away

I especially love how these folks are American, but they sing with faux-European accents that are really appropriate for the music. :)

(In other news, Apple came out with a slightly revised iTunes today, and I'm so happy that they're finally displaying the song title and the artist/album on separate lines! I hated the way they used to cycle through all three, so that you couldn't always see the song title at a glance.)
