Camry, meet Timberland

This article is a wee bit scary:

The records show that in 2000, 49 children were named Canon, followed by 11 Bentleys, five Jaguars and a Xerox.

The end of the article is particularly great.

Bonus links: A home-made Segway and a Segway chariot. For the latter, see this image.

I am surprised that he used a microcontroller for his segway clone. In 6.003 they showed us a controller which was little more than a capacitor, inductor, resistor, and transistor. It was able to balance a stack of books on the end of a 18" rod. It's good stuff though, makes me want to build one. :-P My robot ambitions never make it very far though.

On the baby names, some of the baby names predate the brand (i.e. Chanel or Jaguar), they just get more press because of the brand. I don't think it's any more sinister than naming children after celebrities or characters (I mean, think how many baby Britneys are running around as we speak).

As for Xerox as a name, Finch's dad wanted to give his sister Xerox as a middle name (as a joke), so maybe those parents just have a twisted sense of humor.

cn i meet u wat place
